Geoffrey Butler – Artistic Director and Conductor
Geoffrey Butler has been Artistic Director of the Toronto Choral Society since 1994. He has performed as a guest conductor with the Niagara Symphony, the Hart House Orchestra, the Oakville Symphony and the Canadian Opera Orchestra. He was Music Director for the premiere of the David Warrack musical Piper and won critical acclaim for his conducting of Puccini’s Suor Angelica at Queen’s University, Kingston. Mr. Butler has been the Artistic Director for La Bohéme and The Magic Flute with Opera York.
Mr. Butler has served as Organist and Choir Director at All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Etobicoke, since 1983, where the choral program now boasts two children’s choirs and a youth chamber choir as well as an adult choir. He also maintains a busy career as a solo tenor and is well known throughout his native Canada and the United States.
William O’Meara – Accompanist
William O’Meara has been the Accompanist to the Toronto Choral Society for over ten years. He is a gifted keyboardist who has performed to acclaim at many of the world’s most prestigious festivals and concert venues, including the Warsaw International Festival of Organ Music (Poland), Turin International Organ Festival (Italy), Bento International Organ Festival (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Piccolo Spoleto Festival (Charleston, S.C.), Harvard University Organ Society (Cambridge, MA), Fédération québécoise des amis de l’orgue (Québec), Jack Singer Hall (Calgary), and Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto). At home in Toronto, he is Accompanist to the Victoria Scholars and Cinématheque Ontario (Toronto), the year-round programming arm of the Toronto International Film Festival.
