Geoffrey Butler - Artistic DirectorA graduate of the University of Toronto, Mr. Butler's interest in conducting was fostered from an early age through his enrolment in the world renowned St. Michael's Choir School, and later at the University of Toronto's opera school. After graduating, Mr. Butler went on to further studies in both conducting and singing, at home and abroad. Mr. Butler has held the position of Artistic Director of the Toronto Choral Society since 1994, where he conducts the 125-voice community choir, North 44°ensemble, and the Street Haven Women's Choir. Mr. Butler is the director of music at All Saints' Roman Catholic Church in Etobicoke, where he has been since 1983. In great demand as a clinician, he has provided workshops for many choirs and organizations including the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Canadian Amateur Musicians Association. As a guest conductor, he has performed with the Niagara Symphony, the Canadian Chamber Orchestra, the Hart House Orchestra, the Oakville Symphony in both their main season and at the Oakville Waterfront festival, and the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra. He was music director for the premier of the David Warrack musical Piper with Open Call Music Theatre and conducted Puccini's Suor Angelica at Queen's University, Kingston. An accomplished singer, Mr. Butler is well known throughout Canada and the United States.
